Fila Brasileiro | Tosa inu
Many people think that watch dog is the same as guard dog. There is a huge difference between them. Watch dog is also called “alarm dog’’. The term explains their role – to warn its owner of the potential danger or intruder trespassing the property. Watch dogs tend to bark a lot. This is not peculiar because barking is their only weapon. If someone comes uninvited – watch dog won’t bite; it is more likely that they will hide and wait for the backup.Guard dogs act differently. They don’t hesitate to attack and bite and they are used to protect its owner, and his whole family, livestock or property. Usually dog first gives a clear warning before he bites – the display is their first line of defense. Guard dogs are divided in two groups: large and thick-coated livestock guardians and large short-coated bully/mastiff type of dogs.Fila Brasileiro dogs are excellent guard dogs and this role is like a second skin for them. They have a natural instinct and urge to protect those they love. Fila Brasileiro dogs are extremely devoted to their owner and his/her whole family, including the smaller pets. Fila Brasileiro will protect you for two reasons: because of its genetic predisposition to show distrust toward strangers and also because Fila simply adores her family.Tosa inu dogs are also excellent guard dogs although they may deceive you by not barking when strangers approach them. They are watchful and observe everything in the surroundings. Our Tosa dogs know exactly whom to “trust” and whom to keep an eye on. The fact that they do not use barking as a warning element often is the reason to rely 100% on their instinct: because when Tosa barks you should be aware that something odd is going on and pay more attention. They are also known to attack without a warning so both Tosa and Fila dogs asks for a responsible ownership. At Harakhan kennel we breed excellent guard dogs.
